Oral Communication and Abstract Symposium Presentation Guidelines
Please review the following information related to your presentation.
Presentation Date and Time
Your presentation has been allocated 15 minutes. You should plan for a 10-minute presentation, with the remaining 5 minutes reserved for questions. The session moderator will introduce each presenter, monitor time, and assist in facilitating an interactive, educational experience during the question and answer period.
Presentation Preparation
In June, you will receive instructions on how to upload your slide presentation online in advance of the meeting from PSAV, the AV Company.
The Speaker Ready Room is located in the foyer of the CityCube Berlin in East Lobby 1. You must upload or review your presentation at the Speaker Ready Room at least 4 hours before the start of your presentation. Please take note of the following:
- Power Point presentations should be formatted in a 16:9 ratio.
- You can upload your presentation in the Speaker Ready room using a USB memory stick.
- Personal laptops cannot be used for presentations.
- Comparison slides cannot be accommodated.
- The Speaker Ready Room open times are:
- Friday, July 7 from 12:30 – 20:00
- Saturday, July 8 through Wednesday, July 12 from 7:30 – 18:00
- Thursday, July 13 from 7:30 – 13:00
Presentation Content
The ISTH must ensure that all content is free of commercial bias and influence. Please note the following presentation standards and ensure that your presentation is in compliance:
- Educational materials, such as slides, abstracts, and handouts cannot contain any advertising, trade name, product-group message or company logo.
- When discussing therapeutic options, please use only generic names. If it is necessary to use a trade name, then those of several companies must be used. In addition, should your presentation include discussion of any unlabeled or investigational use of commercial product, you are required to disclose this at the time of presentation.
Disclosure Requirements
All speakers will be required to provide a listing of their disclosures or indication that there are no relationships that require disclosure. This disclosure slide will be inserted at the beginning of your presentation and will be shown for 10 seconds prior to you beginning your talk. The intent of this disclosure is not to prevent a presenter from being involved in the activity, but rather to provide participants with information on which they can make their own judgments.
Audio Visual Equipment
The following audiovisual equipment will be provided in each session room:
- One data projector
- One projection screen
- One laser pointer
- One lectern, table, and wired lavaliere microphone.
Presentation Format
All presentations must use a PowerPoint (Microsoft) format.
Abstract Publication
Abstracts will be published online at www.isth2017.org.
Embargo Policy
All abstracts are governed by International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis Embargo Policy. An embargo means that information from any abstract or presentation may not be announced, presented, publicized or distributed before the presentation time. This applies to all formats of abstract publication, online via the ISTH websites, and other presentations. Specific embargo information is as follows:
- The embargo time for abstract press materials is the start time of the session in which the presentation is being made, or the beginning of the ISTH 2017 press briefing containing the research, whichever comes first.
- If you have questions regarding the embargo policy, email Louise St. Germain. Additionally, if you have press materials to place in the Press Room (Room S1) onsite at ISTH 2017 or for consideration in the ISTH Congress Daily, contact Louise directly for more information.
Abstract Availability
Embargoed text of abstracts will be made available about two weeks prior to the meeting, on June 23, on the official online program as well as via a compilation available from Research and Practice in Thrombosis and Haemostasis (RPTH). Prior to this, only abstract titles will be available online. Full text of Late Breaking Oral Abstracts will be released via the mobile app on the day that they are presented, but will be published following the 2017 ISTH Congress.
